Tioga In-Person Learning Information for Parents

Please read carefully before September 14

  • All students will be dropped off at the front of buildings. Parents will not be allowed inside the buildings.
  • Visitors are not allowed in the buildings. If in-person communication is needed between a parent and teacher or a parent and student it will begin in the office.
  • Teachers and administrators will no longer be opening car doors or helping with seatbelts, but will still be there monitoring the students entering into the schools each morning.
  • Security officers will be present on the school campuses throughout each day.
  • Doors to the school will not be unlocked for students until 7:00 AM each day.
  • Morning Bus Routes will be similar to last year and drivers will pick up students between 6:45 and 7:30 each morning. Pick-Up times will vary for the first week of school.
  • All students riding to and from school on a bus will wear a mask or face shield.
  • All students will receive an optional breakfast (free of charge) each day of the school year and lunch will also be available (free of charge) for all students until the Federal Program runs out of funds.
  • Students are still allowed to bring their own lunch to school each day.
  • K-5th grade students will eat lunch in their classroom every other week.
  • 6th-8th grade students will eat lunch in the cafeteria each day.
  • 9th-12 grade students will eat lunch in the cafeteria and gym each day.
  • Microwaves will not be available at either campus.
  • No outside food or drink delivery is allowed through either front office. Students will need to bring their lunch with them in the morning and no lunch may be picked up from the front office.
  • If your child has any known food allergies, please communicate with your child’s teacher.
  • Random/spot temperature checks will be taken when necessary before and during the school day. Parents are responsible for screening their children prior to bringing/sending them on campuses.
  • All 4th grade and up students will be required to wear a mask or face shield in the building.
  • All staff will be required to wear a mask or face shield while in the building.
  • Playgrounds and all buildings will be additionally disinfected daily.
  • In the case of an absence, students may complete work at home and will not be counted absent. When absent and available, students/parents should check their Google Account for assignments that can be completed at home to be counted present. When not available to perform any school work while absent, the student will be counted absent for the day.
  • Students will be required to social distance when at all possible in classrooms and hallways.
  • Water fountains will not be available. Bottle fillers are available for 5th grade and below. 6th grade and up can bring a sealed, clear bottle of water each day...No other containers or drinks except in lunches.
  • All age students can bring a snack and can eat the snack only when permissible by the teacher.
  • Dress code changes for the 2020-21 School Year (see student handbook on website for full details):
    • Clothing will not be permitted with pictures, emblems, or writings on them that are: lewd, offensive, vulgar, obscene, or have suggestive/sexual implications
    • Clothing, including but not limited to, t-shirts, shorts, sweats, etc. promoting school districts other than Tioga ISD will not be allowed.
  • Students need to come prepared with their own supplies. Teachers will not have school supplies.
  • All MS and HS students are expected to check their Google Gmail account daily.
  • All MS and HS students need to continually bring fully charged chromebooks to school each day.
  • Students are expected to walk on the right side of the hallways while traveling through the building to maintain flow patterns.
  • Students are expected to carry their supplies/materials. All lockers will only be used before and after school for storage.
  • No library books or book bags will be checked out to go home in the first semester...classroom use only.
  • Student pick-up is only at the front of both buildings with the exception of MS (6-8 graders) at the back of the MS building.
  • We will have designated sick clinic areas separate from the well clinics. Students who are ill will be dismissed directly from the sick areas rather than going through the main offices.
  • If you have routine medication to drop off, if possible please do so Friday morning (September 11) between 8:30 - 11 am (medication forms are available on the Tioga ISD Health Clinic website)
  • Over-the-counter, as needed, medications (such as Tylenol, Motrin, cough drops, etc.) will not be given at this time unless a physician order is provided.
  • For Asthma, inhalers are the preferred method of treatment for rescue medication at school and nebulizer treatments will not be given unless it is in an emergency situation and only after an inhaler has been used first. Please discuss asthma action plans with your physician so both an inhaler and a plan of action can be provided to the Health Clinic.
  • If your child has not met the immunization requirements, please do so as the immunization requirements have not changed.
